President Boko Urges Africa to Transform Natural Wealth into Sustainable Prosperity

President Duma Gideon Boko has called on African leaders to harness the continent’s natural resources for long-term economic growth while safeguarding biodiversity. Speaking at the 1st Africa Biodiversity Summit in Tlokweng, he emphasized that true prosperity includes secure food systems, clean water, resilient communities, and healthy ecosystems not just GDP growth.

Highlighting Botswana’s commitment to conservation, where 40% of land is protected, President Boko warned that biodiversity loss, climate change, and land degradation endanger both wildlife and human wellbeing. He proposed establishing an Africa Biodiversity Fund to close financing gaps and promote green investments.

“Let this Summit be a turning point,” he urged, calling for united action to ensure biodiversity and prosperity flourish across Africa.
