This morning, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah joined fellow Christians for a worship service at Engela ELCIN Parish in the Ohangwena Region.
The service coincided with Reformation Sunday, observed globally on October 31 to mark the historic moment in 1517 when Martin Luther posted his Ninety-Five Theses in Wittenberg, calling the Church back to the heart of Scripture.
The service was led by Pastor Martin Johannes Kashihakumwa, who warmly welcomed the President and her delegation. Among those in attendance were the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Hon. Lucia Iipumbu, the Minister of Finance, Hon. Ericah Shafudah, the Governor of Oshana Region, Hon. Hofni Iipinge, and other senior government officials.
Bishop Emeritus Veikko Munyika was also present and delivered the sermon of the day.
In his message, Pastor Kashihakumwa expressed gratitude for the President’s presence, saying:
“We thank God that our President is a Christian who worships together with the people, not only in the city, but also in the countryside, so that she may lead with justice and peace in our nation.”
Addressing the congregation, President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasized the vital partnership between the Church and Government in building a moral, just and peaceful Namibia. She noted that when families nurture responsible children grounded in faith and values, “our nation will stand stronger, and issues such as crime and corruption will find no place among us.”
The President further reflected on the biblical story of Jesus feeding the multitude with five loaves of bread and two fish, drawing a metaphor of unity and shared responsibility. She said, “If we have good and faithful people, even the little we have as a nation can be enough for every Namibian.”
