Nedbank Namibia, alongside Women’s Action for Development (WAD), hosted a financial literacy workshop in Keetmanshoop for 20 commanders and senior officers of the Namibian Defence Force (NDF) from the southern region. The workshop focused on budgeting, saving, responsible borrowing, investment planning, and debt consolidation to strengthen financial resilience and decision-making.
Gernot de Klerk, Nedbank’s Head of Marketing and Communications, highlighted the bank’s commitment to empowering those serving the nation through financial knowledge that fosters stability and economic growth. This initiative, part of Nedbank’s long partnership with WAD since 2017, complements previous community empowerment efforts addressing gender-based violence and human rights.
Sylvia Stein, personal banker at Nedbank Keetmanshoop, emphasized that financial education builds confidence and independence, while Ndakumwa Inkono, Nedloans Sales Consultant, stressed the role of such sessions in creating sustainable futures.
Nedbank and WAD aim to extend the program to junior officers and new recruits in the NDF, embedding financial literacy into defense sector development to promote responsible money management and long-term stability.
