WINDHOEK, March 6– Namibia and Angola have agreed to convene the Namibia-Angola Binational Commission in the coming months to scale up mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, according to a statement from the Namibian presidency. In the statement highlighting the events of his one-day visit to Angola Tuesday, Namibian President Nangolo Mbumba said the two presidents underlined the need to strengthen cooperation in the areas of oil and gas, energy, agriculture, and water. Mbumba underscored that Namibia had a lot to learn from Angola in the oil and gas sectors. Namibia is on the brink of becoming an oil producer after offshore discoveries by Shell Plc and TotalEnergies SE were first made in 2022. Mbumba assured Angola’s President Joao Lourenco that he would continue working hard to strengthen the partnership and friendship between the two countries. During his stay in Angola, President Mbumba toured Sonangol Integrated Logistics Services (SONILS) to implement the Agreement on Cooperation in Petroleum and Natural Gas, encouraging cooperation between SONILS and Namibian partners before returning to Namibia.
