Windhoek, April 17 — The official visit of Namibian Minister of International Relations and Trade Hon. Selma Ashipala-Musavyi to China at the invitation of China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi marked a significant advancement in China-Namibia relations. During their discussions, the two Foreign Ministers highlighted their mutual commitment to multilateralism, advocating for cooperative solutions to global challenges through inclusive dialogue. They emphasized the importance of amplifying the influence of developing countries in global decision-making and enhancing south-south cooperation. Namibia expressed support for China’s major initiatives under President Xi Jinping’s leadership and reiterated its steadfast adherence to the one-China principle. The visit underscored the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations, with both sides committing to enhance their Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership. They agreed to advance economic cooperation in sectors such as new energy, mining, and infrastructure, aiming to propel Namibia’s industrialization and integration into global industrial chains. High-level exchanges and people-to-people interactions were also prioritized to deepen political trust and cultural ties. The visit demonstrated both countries’ dedication to expanding their cooperative efforts for mutual benefit.
