TUNIS, July 29 — Tunisian President Kais Saied and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi held a telephone conversation on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, according to a statement from the Tunisian presidency.
The leaders reaffirmed the deep historical ties between their nations and pledged to further strengthen cooperation across various sectors, said the statement. Saied said that Egypt’s security is an integral part of Arab national security and stressed the importance of Arab solidarity in addressing common challenges, it added. Saied was quoted as saying that attempts to undermine Arab states by fuelling internal divisions would not succeed, adding that there is a shared determination to work towards a more just and equitable international order.
On Palestine, Saied reaffirmed Tunisia’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, the statement said. On Libya, the two leaders reaffirmed that a political solution should be led by Libyans themselves, expressing confidence in the Libyan people’s ability to reach a consensual settlement while preserving the country’s unity.
