At the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), SADC Executive Secretary H.E. Elias M. Magosi delivered a compelling opening address at a high-profile side event hosted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Centered on “Criminal Justice and Sustainable Development,” the event spotlighted UNODC’s innovative strategies for public-private partnerships, sustainable resource governance, and gender-inclusive justice.
Joined by distinguished speakers including Japan’s Honorable Kei Takagi, UNODC’s Director of Operations Mr. Bo Mathiasen, and International Safety Director Mr. Koichi Warisawa, H.E. Magosi stressed the vital role of international collaboration in building robust value chains for mineral resources. He called for increased value addition within the SADC region as a pathway to unlocking economic growth and sustainable development for Southern Africa.
