JERUSALEM, July 15 — Israeli researchers have developed an AI model that can predict a person’s risk of heart failure years before symptoms appear, the Israel Institute of Technology said in a statement Tuesday.
The new AI system DeepHHF, described in the journal npj Digital Medicine, was trained using about 70,000 heart monitor tests collected by Israel’s Leumit Health Services organization. The system looks for tiny changes in the heart’s electrical activity that are too small for doctors to spot during routine checks. The researchers said it can identify people at high risk of developing heart failure up to five years before the disease appears. This could allow doctors to start treatment earlier, helping prevent complications, reduce hospital visits, improve quality of life, and potentially save lives, they said.
