President Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed her gratitude for the IPC delegation’s openness to dialogue. “In my recent address to Parliament, I highlighted the imperative of strengthening government-opposition engagement. This meeting exemplifies our commitment to fostering open dialogue, mutual respect, and constructive cooperation for the benefit of Namibia,” she stated.
Dr. Iitula congratulated the President on becoming Namibia’s first female Head of State, calling it a landmark achievement for the nation. He also valued the invitation, affirming that such interactions enhance democracy and national cohesion. “We are thankful for this chance to exchange views on critical national matters,” said Dr. Iitula.
The discussions spanned key national topics, including education, health, infrastructure, value addition, energy security, and Namibia’s strategic position amid ongoing global geopolitical shifts. The conversation emphasized safeguarding Namibia’s interests in a rapidly evolving world.
This engagement with the official opposition reflects a respected tradition of Namibian Heads of State dialoguing with political parties to foster consensus on national priorities. The meeting, the first in a series planned with various parties, signals Namibia’s democratic maturity and commitment to dialogue as a cornerstone for a united and prosperous future.
