The 18th edition of the Helao Nafidi Business Expo officially commenced today in Namibia’s Ohangwena Region, with President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah calling for unity, innovation, and public-private collaboration to stimulate economic growth. The event, themed “Ignite the Future: Unearthing Youth Potential and Innovation at the Heart of Helao Nafidi Town,” showcased a strong focus on empowering young Namibians as crucial drivers of the nation’s prosperity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Nandi-Ndaitwah urged attendees to invest in the creativity and dynamism of the youth, which she described as Namibia’s greatest resource. She praised the Helao Nafidi Town Council for their dedication to local development and encouraged both residents and business owners to actively engage with and take ownership of the Expo.
Highlighting the importance of expanding economic opportunities, the President called for enhanced cross-border trade with neighbouring Angola. She also emphasized the need for stronger cooperation between government and the private sector, citing platforms such as the Namibia Public Private Forum (NPPF) as vital to fostering sustainable partnerships.
As the nation prepares for upcoming regional and local authority elections, President Nandi-Ndaitwah appealed for peaceful participation. She reiterated her administration’s firm commitment to youth empowerment initiatives, job creation, and the improvement of service delivery across all sectors.
“Let us work together to build a stronger, more inclusive economy that leaves no Namibian behind,” she declared as she officially opened the Expo, signaling a hopeful path forward for Namibia’s economic future.
