Windhoek, May 28 — Mobile Telecommunications Ltd (MTC) has unveiled a significant capital expenditure (CAPEX) budget of N$624.9 million for the 2025/26 financial year. This commitment underscores MTC’s dedication to enhancing Namibia’s digital and telecommunications framework through strategic infrastructure investments and technological advancements. The announcement was made during the ICT High-Level Stakeholder engagement held in Oshakati.
Investment in Key Projects
According to Tim Ekandjo, MTC’s Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability Officer, the allocated funds will support several pivotal projects. These initiatives aim to bolster network performance, expand connectivity, and enable future-ready digital services throughout the country. Ekandjo emphasized the importance of the capital allocation, stating:
“This capital allocation is supporting initiatives such as network optimisation and modernisation, information and communication technology (ICT) upgrades, transmission expansion, construction of new network towers, and power infrastructure investments for network sites.”
Strategic Rollout Plan
MTC’s strategic rollout plan includes the construction of new network towers and the expansion of transmission infrastructure. These efforts are designed to meet the growing data demand and enhance nationwide connectivity. Ekandjo highlighted the significance of these investments in extending network coverage to underserved and remote areas, ensuring broader access to reliable telecommunications services for all Namibians.
