South Africa lights candle against GBVF

JOHANNESBURG, Oct. 20 — Police officers attend a candlelight vigil calling for an end to gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) in Johannesburg, South Africa, Oct. 15, 2026. The vigil follows widespread national outrage after the discovery of 11 women’s bodies across the city of Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, since July.
