Windhoek, Aug 1 – The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) is set to launch the National Digital Strategy (NDS) and the National Emergency Telecommunication Plan (NETP) on Tuesday, 05 August 2025 at NIPAM from 15:00 to 17:00.
The National Digital Strategy serves as a comprehensive blueprint guiding Namibia’s holistic digital transformation agenda. It aims to harness digital technologies strategically to accelerate the country’s socio-economic development, environmental sustainability, and inclusive digital participation. The strategy focuses on expanding digital infrastructure, bridging the urban rural digital divide, promoting digital literacy, ensuring strong cybersecurity, and enhancing digital public services aligning with Namibia’s Vision 2030 and other national development plans.
Complementing this, the National Emergency Telecommunication Plan is a strategic framework designed to improve communication and information exchange regarding natural hazards and disaster risks. It leverages telecommunications and ICTs for effective disaster response and coordination among government entities, communities, and both public and private organizations.
This launch marks a significant step forward in Namibia’s commitment to building a resilient, connected, and digitally empowered nation prepared to face the challenges of the digital era while enhancing disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
