DAKAR, June 20 — Senegalese Minister of Infrastructure Dethie Fall said Friday that all infrastructure projects being carried out for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games will be delivered by July 31 at the latest.
“All the infrastructure we have undertaken as part of the Youth Olympic Games will be received by July 31 at the latest and transferred to the International Olympic Committee,” Fall said during a technical acceptance ceremony for the equestrian center in Diamniadio, near the Senegalese capital Dakar. The minister said construction deadlines for the equestrian center had been respected, adding that the facility was almost ready and would be formally handed over “within 10 days”. Fall said work had already been completed at several other Dakar 2026 sites, including “the competition center, Iba Mar Diop Stadium in Dakar, the Olympic swimming pool and the accommodation center”. “Only minor work remains at the Olympic Village before its delivery,” he added.
The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 13 in Dakar, Diamniadio and Saly. The event will mark the first Olympic sporting event to be held on African soil.
