On 13 September 2025, H.E. Cde. Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of the SWAPO Party, delivered her maiden address to the Party Central Committee since her election as Party President earlier this year. The official opening of the Central Committee meeting took place at the Gateway Center in Windhoek, bringing together top party officials, members, and supporters for a solemn forum to discuss party matters and national priorities.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah expressed deep appreciation to the party leadership and rank and file for their trust and confidence, emphasizing that collective support is crucial to delivering sustainable development and shared prosperity to the Namibian people. She highlighted the importance of the Central Committee meetings as constitutional obligations and opportunities to refine the party’s vision amid the diverse responsibilities of its members.
Reflecting on the 2024 Presidential and National Assembly elections, President Nandi-Ndaitwah noted that the SWAPO Party’s governance mandate was renewed, extending its stewardship to four decades.
However, she stressed that Namibia’s democratic journey remains incomplete, with upcoming Regional and Local Authority elections on 26 November 2025 presenting another opportunity for citizens to exercise their democratic rights. The election theme “Unity in Diversity: Natural Resources Beneficiation, for Youth Empowerment and Sustainable Development,” remains central as the party pursues its goals through to 2030.
The President aligned the party’s 2024 Election Manifesto commitments with the sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), launched by the government in July 2025, underscoring the synergy between the party’s agenda and national development priorities. She appealed to Namibians to grant the SWAPO Party a decisive mandate to secure a commanding majority in all constituencies and local authorities, warning that a fractured mandate could delay service delivery and hinder important development initiatives.
Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah assured that a vote for SWAPO is a vote for progress, accountability, and timely service delivery, reaffirming the party’s dedication to using its mandate responsibly and transparently, in accordance with Namibia’s Constitution.
Touching on regional dynamics, she acknowledged shifting geopolitical realities in Southern Africa and the challenges faced by liberation movements, urging vigilance, discipline, and unity in advancing the party’s mission to uplift the Namibian people.
Further, the President updated the committee on preparations for the upcoming elections, including candidate selection, commending districts that have completed the process and urging others to do so promptly. She called for honesty, integrity, and loyalty in all party actions, warning that indiscipline and self-interest weaken the party’s standing and public trust.
On international affairs, the SWAPO Party President reaffirmed the party’s solidarity with liberation movements worldwide, especially supporting the people of Palestine and Western Sahara, and called on the global community to uphold peace. She expressed concern over actions by the government of Israel in Qatar, condemning them as violations of sovereignty and international law, and praised Qatar’s role in hosting peace negotiations in the Middle East.
Concluding her address, Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah officially declared the SWAPO Party Central Committee meeting open, rallying members to unity, victory, and hard work for the nation’s future.
SWAPO! UNITED!
SWAPO! VICTORIOUS!
NOW! HARD WORK!
NOW! HARD WORK!
