PM LAUNCHES NATIONAL SCHOOL REHABILITATION CAMPAIGN

On August 28, Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare officially launched the national school rehabilitation campaign at Mukuvi Primary School in the Kavango East Region. The initiative aims to revamp dilapidated school infrastructure across all 121 constituencies in the country’s 14 regions. It will leverage the skills of unemployed graduates from Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) and capable community members.

The campaign’s objective is to ensure that all schools in Namibia are equipped with proper infrastructure, including functioning ablution facilities, laboratories, and other essential utilities. This is part of a broader vision to create a conducive learning environment that supports national education goals.

Demonstrating his commitment, the Prime Minister has traveled 140 km from Rundu to camp at Mukuvi Primary School, where he has personally joined the rehabilitation efforts alongside graduates from Rundu VTC and local community members.

The launch event was attended by the Kavango East Regional Director of Education, the Chief Regional Officer of Kavango East, the Councilor of Ndiyona Constituency, and officials from various institutions. In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that the country has produced skilled graduates from technical and vocational institutions who are ready and able to contribute to national development. He urged government and stakeholders to make use of this untapped human resource.

Dr. Ngurare will spend the night at the school, working side by side with the team as the initiative begins. He stressed that this campaign should not be mistaken for a political move, but rather viewed as a bold step towards creating a humane and inclusive learning environment for every child in Namibia.
