USM Alger crowned Algerian Cup champions

ALGIERS, July 6 — USM Alger clinched its ninth Algerian Cup title with a 2-0 win over CR Belouizdad in Saturday’s final at Nelson Mandela Stadium. Riad Benayad broke the deadlock in the ninth minute with a composed finish. Just four minutes later, Ahmed Khaldi doubled the lead for USMA. Despite CR Belouizdad’s desperate attempts to fight back, USMA’s defense stood firm, ensuring its ninth title in the tournament. The victory is especially meaningful for the Red and Blacks, salvaging a difficult season with a Cup title and a place in the continental competition. At the final whistle, Algiers erupted with joy as thousands of fans flooded the streets, blaring horns and lighting fireworks. Red and black flags waved amid celebrations that paralyzed the capital’s main roads.
