KAMPALA, June 25 — Uganda’s Chief of Defense Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Wednesday praised China for its longstanding strategic defense cooperation with the East African country, according to a statement issued by the military. Kainerugaba, during a meeting with the Chinese Defense Attache to Uganda Zhang Hao and his deputy Li Hai, emphasized the strategic importance of China’s defense cooperation with Uganda. “The Chinese military delegation paid a courtesy visit to Gen. Kainerugaba, during which both parties discussed enhancing bilateral relations between Uganda and China, with a particular focus on deepening military cooperation,” the statement from the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces said. According to the statement, the Chinese defense officers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening ties between the two nations. “The meeting highlights the growing military collaboration between Uganda and China, which has seen advancements in defense capabilities, technology transfer, and joint training initiatives,” the statement added.
