Romero injury adds to Tottenham’s injury woes

LONDON, Dec. 28 — Tottenham’s selection problems have worsened with the confirmation that central defender Cristian Romero will be out of action for at least five weeks after suffering a hamstring injury. Romero was forced out of his side’s 2-1 win at home to Everton on December 23, and the extent of the problem has been confirmed by a scan. The Argentinian had only recently returned to action after serving a three-game ban for the red card he was shown in his side’s defeat to Chelsea on November 6. “It’s not so great with Romero. He had a scan the other day. He’s got a hamstring strain, so we’re looking at probably four weeks, five weeks for him. It’s disappointing to lose him, for sure,” confirmed Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou in his conference ahead of Thursday’s Premier League visit to Brighton. “We obviously missed him with the suspension and now, we’d just got him back and kind of steadied things up and obviously we have him missing again for quite a chunk of time,” the coach added.
