President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing clean, safe and reliable water for all Namibians, describing water as a cornerstone of health, growth and national development.
Speaking at the Inauguration of the Ohangwena II Wellfield Water Supply Scheme Project in Eenhana, the President stressed that water remains one of our national priorities under the National Development Plans, the Water Sector Support Programme and Vision 2030.
“As we say in Namibia, water is life. Truly water is life. It sustains us, nourishes our animals, our vegetation and drives our development,” she said.
The President called on communities to protect public infrastructure and warned against vandalism, noting that destruction slows down progress meant for the people. She emphasised that what the government invests must be safeguarded so it can be recovered through long-term service delivery.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah also urged patience as some programmes take time to implement, and encouraged citizens to continue working together with commitment and integrity.
She further highlighted the need for reforms in international financial institutions to ensure fair terms that allow developing nations to access the financing needed for infrastructure development.
“Let us continue to move forward in unity, with resilience and with faith toward a Namibia where every citizen’s well-being can flourish,” the President said.
