Nedbank Namibia and One Economy Foundation Unite in a Powerful Stand Against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBV-F)

In a heartfelt and impactful collaboration, Nedbank Namibia recently handed over a significant donation of 300 essential items and N$30,000 in cash to the One Economy Foundation, reinforcing their shared commitment to combating Gender-Based Violence and Femicide across Namibia. The donation event took place on August 8, 2025, at the One Economy Foundation’s BeFree Campus in Katutura—a safe haven dedicated to supporting survivors of GBV-F.
This Box Donation Drive campaign, led by Nedbank Namibia’s Human Capital Team as part of its wellness initiatives, is a tangible expression of the bank’s dedication to social responsibility and holistic wellness. Nedbank employees nationwide contributed a variety of crucial supplies, including clothing, toiletries, non-perishable food, and educational materials, aiding survivors on their path to healing and empowerment.
At the handover, Bianca Muller, Nedbank Namibia’s Executive for Human Capital, expressed pride in the collective effort of staff who donated these items out of their own goodwill, embodying the bank’s ethos of “being money experts who do good.” Dr. Veronica Theron, Director for Health and Wellness at One Economy Foundation, emphasized the importance of this ongoing partnership, highlighting the mutual benefits of collaborating to uplift communities affected by violence.
This initiative builds on a strong foundation of partnership spanning several years. From 2021 to 2023, Nedbank contributed over N$100,000 for the construction of the BeFree Campus, a space designed to empower youth and survivors of violence. The recent donation represents a full-circle moment, symbolizing the depth of Nedbank’s enduring commitment to this cause.
The Box Donation Drive is more than philanthropy—it is a call to collective action against the devastating impact of GBV-F, which affects individuals across all demographics in Namibia. Both Nedbank Namibia and the One Economy Foundation integrate wellness into their programs: Nedbank through mental health campaigns and onsite wellness facilities for employees, and One Economy Foundation through support services for beneficiaries facing social challenges.
Beyond this campaign, Nedbank Namibia actively invests in community development through employee volunteerism, bursaries, and internships, affirming their belief that true empowerment arises from wellness and opportunity.
Nedbank Namibia invites other corporations, organizations, and individuals to join this crucial movement. Together, they envision a Namibia where safety is a universal right and every survivor receives the support and solidarity they deserve.
