Namibian Youth Commemorate International Youth Day

Windhoek, Aug 12 — The Jetu Jama NAMCOL Centre in Windhoek, Khomas Region, came alive with the vibrant energy and passion of young leaders gathered to commemorate International Youth Day, under the theme: “Local Youth Action for the SDGs and Beyond”. This year’s event highlighted the pivotal role that youth play in driving sustainable development within their communities and on the global stage.

Directors of Ceremonies, Mr. Christoph Ndengu and Ms. Valmary Jantje, skillfully guided the program, emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The day’s activities showcased inspiring stories of young innovators, activists, and entrepreneurs who are making tangible impacts in areas such as education, climate action, and social equality.

Participants explored how youth-led initiatives can accelerate progress toward the SDGs by leveraging local knowledge, creativity, and technology. Discussions underscored that beyond meeting the 2030 agenda, young people’s involvements are crucial in shaping resilient, inclusive, and forward-looking societies.
