Namibian Government plans for the establishment of a National Youth Fund (NYF) progressing well

Windhoek, May 22 – The Minister of Information and Communication Technology today announced the 7th Cabinet decision which included the news on the National Youth Fund. The Government said progress in establishing a National Youth Fund is progressing well. ”Cabinet took note of the progress made towards the development of a National Youth Found and has approved in principle the common Guidelines that outline the National Youth Fund and directed the Ministry of Finance to review the Guidelines, before resubmission to the 8th (2025) Cabinet meeting for Consideration and endorsement.” reads the Cabinet decision. Recently the government announced that N$257 million for the establishment of the National Youth Fund in the 2025/2026 financial year. The announcement was made by the Minister of Finance Ericah Shafudah during the budget vote in parliament two weeks ago. The Minister said the fund will be used to support financial and non-financial support to various youth programmes in order to address the 44.4% youth unemployment rate in the country.
