Namibian Government allocate N$500 000.00 to each region for Memorial services of the Founding President

Windhoek, Feb 16 – – Namibian government has committed an amount of N$500 000.00 to each region to hold a regional memorial service. ”In preparation for the funeral and to afford all Namibians an opportunity to pay homage and honour our founding President and Father of the Namibian Nation, all regions are to organize and hold memorial services within the regions, overseen by Honourable Governors.” reads the media statement.

The Office of the Regional Governors shall procure all services within the set budget of N$500 000.00 and submit invoices for payment to the executive Director in the office of the Prime Minister. The Government will ensure adherence to the public procurement act, 2015 and submit all required documents with the invoices.

The Government said, it was their wish to transport the remains of the Founding president and Father of the Namibian nation to all regions, it’s not possible to do so to all regions. The remains of the founding President will however be taken to place of his birth at Etunda in Omusati Region where the first memorial will be held.
