Namibia has joined other countries for the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference, which commenced on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, at Century City, Cape Town, South Africa. The conference is themed: Leveraging cooperation, innovation, and partnerships to fight transnational organized crime. The conference will close on Friday, 29 August 2025.
Major General Anne-Marie Nainda, the Deputy Inspector General of the Namibian Police Force and, INTERPOL Executive Committee Delegate for Africa, joined by the Head of INTERPOL- National Central bureau (NCB-Windhoek) as well as Heads of Criminal Investigations, Legal services and Public Relations as well the Namibian Police Force Attaché in Cape Town and another Senior Officer from NCB-Windhoek are attending the meeting.
The INTERPOL African Regional Conference is a significant event that brings together law enforcement agencies, cybersecurity experts, and stakeholders from across the African region and beyond. Its main objective is to focus on enhancing regional cooperation in combating transnational organized crimes, strengthening cyber security readiness, and promoting information sharing among member countries.
Opening the gathering was Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, President of INTERPOL who pledged INTERPOL’s support to African Member Countries, and urged the Police Chiefs to speak out as their words will strengthen the support in the fight against transnational organized crime. He also shared successes as achieved by INTERPOL and, in the same vain, commended Africa for rallying behind him as the President of INTERPOL. Major General Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi will be stepping down as the INTERPOL President during the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech, Morocco, from 24 – 27 November 2025.
The Acting Minister of the South African Police in South Africa, Prof. Firoz Cachalia delivered the key note address emphasizing that transnational organized crime remains one of the most serious threats to peace, stability, and development across Africa and beyond.
As per the program: Namibia is set to make a significant impact at the three day INTERPOL African Regional Conference, with three of its esteemed law enforcement officials participating in key roles.
Major General Anne-Marie Nainda will moderate a session that will discuss: how INTERPOL’S cutting-edge tools and partnerships are revolutionizing the fight against financial crime in Africa.
Meanwhile, Commissioner
! Naruseb the Head of CID, will present on countries initiatives to disrupt drug trafficking and safeguard communities. Additionally, Mr. Immanuel Sam, currently based at INTERPOL’S Headquarters in France, will moderate a discussion on enhancing policing capabilities in Africa.
These distinguished officers will undoubtedly bring pride to the nation as they contribute to this crucial regional and international and or regional event.
