On August 18, 2025, Namibians from all corners of the country united to celebrate a significant milestone: the 90th birthday of His Excellency Hifikepunye Pohamba, the second President of the Republic of Namibia. In a heartfelt tribute, current President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah led the nation in extending best wishes, marking the occasion with a reflection on Pohamba’s profound legacy.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah noted that Pohamba’s “heroic exploits in pursuit of the liberation of Namibia and her people are etched in the fabric of our democracy.” Described as a tireless champion for freedom, former President Pohamba spent decades serving his country, advancing the cause of independence and national unity through decisive leadership.
Throughout his tenure, Pohamba was renowned for fostering nation building, contributing to the strengthening of institutional capacities, and consolidating the peace that now defines Namibia.
