Guangzhou, July 6 — Speaking to NAMPA TV on the sidelines of the bilateral talks between China and Namibia, in Guangzhou, China, Namibia’s Minister of Works and Transport Veikko Nekundi said the government remains committed to strengthening the country’s position as a regional logistics hub.
“Our key priority is to transform and enhance our strategic logistics corridors, particularly the Trans-Kalahari Corridor and the Zambezi Corridor, to improve the movement of cargo across the region. We want to ensure that cargo from our neighboring countries, as well as trade from the Chinese market, increasingly utilizes the Port of Walvis Bay as the preferred gateway into Southern Africa. At the same time, we are focused on strengthening the value proposition of these critical corridors through improved infrastructure, greater efficiency and enhanced regional connectivity. This will reinforce Namibia’s role as a competitive logistics and trade hub, driving economic growth and regional integration.”
