The NAMDIA Foundation has made a significant contribution to Namibia’s healthcare sector with the donation of a state-of-the-art KLS Martin Electrosurgical Generator to Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital in the Oshikoto Region. Valued at over N$280,000, the donation was officially handed over on Friday, 10 October 2025, in a ceremony attended by key health officials and medical professionals.

This advanced medical equipment is expected to enhance the hospital’s surgical capabilities across several disciplines such as General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, and Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. It will enable surgeons to perform procedures with greater precision, safety, and efficiency, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Honourable Dr. Esperance Luvindao, Minister of Health and Social Services, received the donation and expressed gratitude to the NAMDIA Foundation for supporting the hospital’s call for assistance. She underscored the importance of the donation in bolstering the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to preventive healthcare and early diagnosis through advanced endoscopic procedures.

Speaking at the handover, Ms. Foibe Fabiano, Trustee of the NAMDIA Foundation, highlighted that the foundation’s mission is to ensure that the benefits of Namibia’s diamond wealth positively impact ordinary citizens. She emphasized Health as a key pillar of the foundation’s work because a healthy nation is a productive nation that eases the strain on state resources and fosters societal advancement.

Since its inception in 2019, the NAMDIA Foundation has invested over N$60 million in impactful projects focusing on Health, Education, and Sport. These initiatives include classroom construction, bursary programs, healthcare infrastructure development, and sports projects aimed at uplifting communities and strengthening Namibia’s social fabric.

The donation ceremony also celebrated the inauguration of a new Endoscopic Unit at Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital, named after the esteemed Professor Fillemon Amaambo, a pioneer in Namibian healthcare. The event was supported by various sponsors and medical fraternity members, solidifying a communal commitment to improving healthcare services in the region.

By equipping health facilities like Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital with advanced medical technology, the NAMDIA Foundation continues to play a vital role in enhancing healthcare delivery and saving lives across Namibia.
