Windhoek, June 24 – Mobile Telecommunications Ltd (MTC) has once again emerged as one of Africa’s most admired brands, securing five accolades at the 2026 Brand Africa Awards held today in Windhoek. Among the honours was the Most
Admired Brand Grand Prix Award, which celebrates outstanding purpose-led brand excellence, sustainability, social impact, and a demonstrated commitment to building a better Africa.
MTC was further recognised as the Most Admired Namibian Brand (Telecommunications), Most Admired Brand (Doing Good for Society and the Environment). Most Admired Brand (Contributing to a Better Africa), and Most Admired
African Brand.
During the ceremony, MTC Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Tim Ekandjo, was also honoured with the Most Influential African Chief Marketing Officer Award.
Commenting on the recognition, Ekandjo said the awards were a tribute not only to MTC, but to the people the brand serves. “We are grateful for this recognition, but these awards do not belong to MTC alone. They may carry our name, but ultimately, they
carry the Namibian story,” he said, adding that every customer, family, community, and Namibian remains the heartbeat of MTC.
The Brand Africa Awards are widely regarded as a premier continental platform that celebrates Africa’s most admired, trusted, and valuable brands.
MTC Namibia’s achievement affirms its continued leadership in the telecommunications sector, both locally and across the continent. The recognition reflects the company’s sustained focus on innovation, customer experience, digital inclusion, and sustainable
development initiatives that support national and continental priorities.
The awards ceremony brought together business leaders, brand custodians, and industry stakeholders to celebrate African brand excellence and purpose-driven growth across markets.
