MAPUTO, April 2 — Mozambique’s Secretary of State for Tourism Fredson Bacar has unveiled plans to enhance cooperation with South Africa and Eswatini to promote integrated tourism in the southern African region. “Our focus is to work together to identify strategic areas and transform Southern Africa into a single tourism destination,” Bacar said during the opening of the Business Conference at the second edition of the Triland Project in Maputo on Monday. The initiative was designed to bring together tourism agencies, the SADC Business Council Tourism Alliance, the Mozambican Tourism Federation, excursionists, and tourism managers from Eswatini, Mozambique, and South Africa. According to Bacar, the plan includes short, medium, and long-term actions to address common challenges and strengthen the sector. “We will implement coordinated strategies as a team, ensuring sustainable benefits for all the countries involved,” he added. According to Bacar, the reforms will make it possible to promote the country’s tourism potential, increasing the sector’s contribution to generating income and creating jobs for young people.
