Mozambique prepares for 225,000 Easter holiday travelers

MAPUTO, March 19 — Mozambican authorities are gearing up for an influx of 225,000 travelers during the Easter holiday, including about 8,000 Mozambican immigrant miners returning from South Africa. The country’s main border post at Ressano Garcia, connecting Mozambique to South Africa, will remain open 24 hours a day, with other borders adjusting their schedules based on demand, according to a report released by Mozambique Customs, quoted by Radio Mocambique on Tuesday. A multi-sectoral team, including the Defense and Security Forces, has been activated to manage the movement of people and goods during the holiday season. This year’s Easter falls on March 31.
