Modi leaves for Russia, Austria

NEW DELHI, July 8 — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday left for a two-nation tour to Russia and Austria.
In Russia, Modi will hold an annual bilateral summit with President Vladimir Putin. It would be the 22nd annual summit between the two countries.
Thereafter, Modi will fly to Austria on Tuesday. It would be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Austria in 41 years, according to the country’s Ministry of External Affairs.
In his departing statement, Modi said “the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia has advanced over the past 10 years, including in the areas of energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.”
He added that he looks forward to reviewing all aspects of bilateral cooperation with Russia and sharing perspectives on various regional and global issues.
