MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES RECEIVES 3 AMBULANCES FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN

The Honorable Minister of Health and Social Services; Dr. Esperance Luvindao today officiated the handover ceremony of three fully equipped ambulances donated by the Government of Japan.

“This generous contribution goes beyond diplomacy. It is a meaningful investment in the health, dignity, and resilience of the Namibian people.” Said Dr. Theo-Ben Kandetu during the opening remarks of the handover ceremony. The Ministry has reiterated that the ambulances will be deployed to the regions with the greatest need, in order to bridge the gap between remote communities and life-saving care.

“An ambulance is more than just a vehicle it represents hope, urgency, and the ability to save lives when every second matters.” Said Dr. Luvindao. The three ambulances are received just months after the Minister commissioned 36 new ambulances purchased by the Ministry to support emergency services across the country.

From the vast terrain across the country to the rural clinics, healthcare delivery faces unique challenges. These mobile units are expected to reduce waiting times, improve emergency response, and bring healthcare closer to those who need it the most.

The Ministry extends its sincere appreciation to the Government and people of Japan for their enduring partnership and support. These ambulances are entrusted to the Ministry’s dedicated emergency medical teams, whose professionalism and compassion continue to uphold the values of service and care.
