Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera concedes election

Windhoek, Sept 24 – Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera has conceded defeat in the presidential election to his rival Peter Mutharika.
In his message to his predecessor President Chekwera said”it’s only right that I concede defeat out of respect for your will as citizens and out of respect for the constitution,. It was clear that my rival Peter Mutharika has an insurmountable lead over me. In the days that remain, I want you to know that Iam committed to a peaceful transfer of power.” The Malawi Electoral Commission is expected to announce the final results today.
