Kyrgyzstan, UN to enhance counter-terrorism cooperation

BISHKEK, May 18 — President Sadyr Japarov said Kyrgyzstan will enhance counterterrorism cooperation with the United Nations and participate in UN efforts to combat terrorism worldwide.
Japarov made the remarks during a Friday meeting with Vladimir Voronkov, the under-secretary-general of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism. The two sides exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda and cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported.
Kyrgyzstan strongly condemns terrorism in all its manifestations and will implement the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, which provides guidelines for countering international terrorism, he said.
Japarov noted with satisfaction that the state program to counter extremism and terrorism for 2023-2027 was adopted last year with the assistance of the UN.
