The Directorate of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts, and Culture in Kavango West Region has officially inaugurated the “September Month” initiative. This nationwide campaign, led by the Ministry’s Divisions of Lifelong Learning, underscores the critical role of lifelong education in Namibia’s development.
Throughout September, all 14 regions will engage in a series of important events:
• Adult Literacy Week, themed “Promoting Literacy in the Digital Era,” focuses on enhancing reading, writing, and numeracy skills among adults and youth.
• Readathon Week encourages a passion for reading among learners under the banner “Namibia Break the Silence, Build Minds, Focus on Mental Health.”
• Heritage Week celebrates Namibia’s rich cultural diversity and traditions, fostering national pride and unity with the theme “Bahandi Belambilye Chiza Chetu,” or “Torchbearers of our Heritage.”
• Arts Celebration Week highlights and empowers local artists and cultural practitioners, with the theme “Promoting Creative Industries for Sustainable Development.”
These events collectively emphasize the importance of lifelong learning, culture, and creativity as vital forces driving Namibia’s progress and future prosperity.
