Israel, Bolivia restore diplomatic ties severed over Gaza war

JERUSALEM, Dec. 10– Israel and Bolivia have restored diplomatic relations about two years after Bolivia cut ties over Israel’s military onslaught in Gaza. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a statement that its foreign minister, Gideon Sa’ar, and his Bolivian counterpart, Fernando Aramayo, signed a Joint Communique in Washington, D.C., to renew diplomatic relations between the two countries. “We agreed to reestablish full diplomatic relations and to appoint ambassadors in a timely manner,” Sa’ar said during the signing ceremony, according to the statement. The ministers also exchanged mutual invitations for government and private-sector representatives to “explore new opportunities for cooperation.” “We committed our two Foreign Ministries to ongoing dialogue on bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues,” Sa’ar added. In October 2023, Bolivia severed diplomatic ties with Israel, accusing it of committing crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
