From Trees to Transformation: Miss Earth South Africa Semi-Finalist Tebatso Mamabolo Champions Environmental Sustainability and Community Impact

Windhoek, Aug 12 — For Tebatso Mamabolo, environmental advocacy is more than a campaign message—it is a call to action.

As a Miss Earth South Africa 2026 Semi-Finalist, Mamabolo is using her platform to demonstrate that environmental leadership can be practical, inclusive and rooted in communities. Her journey combines environmental education, youth empowerment, community development and a commitment to creating meaningful, lasting impact.

Planting seeds for a Greener Future: Miss Earth South Africa 2026 Semi-Finalist, Tebatso Mamabolo alongside the Rosslyn Primary School Grade 4 Learners planting trees empowering learners to become environmental champions. Today they plant trees, Tomorrow they protect our planet.

One of the defining moments of her campaign has been the planting of 15 trees at Hope School, where she engaged young learners on the importance of environmental stewardship, biodiversity and protecting the natural environment.

For Mamabolo, the initiative was about more than putting trees into the ground. It was an opportunity to plant an idea in the minds of young people—that caring for the environment is a responsibility that begins early and belongs to everyone.

“Environmental action should empower people,” is the philosophy at the heart of her Miss Earth journey.

Turning advocacy into everyday action

Mamabolo has also been developing environmental education content aimed at encouraging ordinary South Africans to understand that sustainability does not always require large-scale interventions.

Planting hope, growing futures: On 5 August 2026, Miss Earth South Africa 2026 Semi-Finalist, Tebatso Mamabolo had the privilege of planting trees at Hope School a Special School in Westcliff, Johannesburg, alongside the wonderful Intermediary Phase Children.

Instead, meaningful environmental action can begin with everyday choices, responsible citizenship and greater awareness of how communities interact with their surroundings.

Through her platform, she is also promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, highlighting the connections between environmental conservation, education, youth empowerment and community development.

Her approach reflects an understanding that environmental challenges cannot be addressed in isolation. Protecting natural resources, empowering young people and strengthening communities are interconnected priorities in building a more sustainable future.

Building on a wider legacy of social impact

Mamabolo’s environmental work is also an extension of her long-standing commitment to social impact through the League of Dignity NPC.

Through this work, she continues to explore ways of integrating environmental sustainability into youth development and community empowerment initiatives.

Spreading smiles, one Meal and One Toy at a Time: On 11 July 2026,Miss Earth South Africa 2026 Semi-Finalist, Tebatso Mamabolo brought joy and hope to 200 Children in Alexandra Township through a special Food and Toy Drive. This was more than giving – it was about creating smiles, building community, and reminding every child that they matter#200 children. Countless smile. One community united in kindness.

Her Miss Earth journey has therefore provided another avenue through which she can bring together two important areas of advocacy: improving the lives of people while protecting the environment in which communities live.

Whether through planting trees, educating children or mobilising communities, her message remains consistent: every action, no matter how small, can contribute to a more sustainable South Africa.

More than a pageant

The Miss Earth South Africa programme itself provides an important platform for Mamabolo’s work.

Under the direction of Executive Director and National Director Catherine Constantinides and Director Ella Bella Leite, the programme positions itself as more than a traditional beauty pageant. It seeks to develop young South African women as environmentally and socially minded leaders, equipping them with knowledge, confidence and practical experience to become active citizens, environmental advocates and agents of change.

Leadership is cultivated throughout the journey rather than simply bestowed at the end of a competition.

Candidates are encouraged to learn, lead initiatives, engage with communities, communicate environmental issues and transform advocacy into tangible action. This approach places service at the centre of leadership.

For Mamabolo, that philosophy closely mirrors her own understanding of what it means to have a public platform.

Leadership through service

The Miss Earth South Africa journey demonstrates that visibility can carry responsibility.

For Mamabolo, being a semi-finalist is not simply about competing for a national title. It is an opportunity to use her voice to educate, inspire and encourage people to take practical steps towards environmental sustainability.

Her work at Hope School, environmental education initiatives, advocacy for the Sustainable Development Goals and continued community work through the League of Dignity NPC all point towards a broader vision—one in which environmental protection becomes part of everyday community life.

As she prepares for the national interviews and final stages of the Miss Earth South Africa 2026 competition, Mamabolo continues to embrace each activity and challenge as an opportunity to deepen her leadership and expand her environmental advocacy.

Her journey offers a simple but powerful reminder: sustainability is not only about protecting the planet; it is also about empowering the people who call it home.
