CAIRO, Oct. 6 — The Egyptian Red Crescent on Tuesday dispatched a new humanitarian aid convoy to the Gaza Strip, carrying more than 2,653 tons of supplies, amid a rising death toll in the enclave despite an ongoing ceasefire. The convoy carried food baskets, flour, relief and medical supplies, and petroleum products needed to operate hospitals and other vital facilities in Gaza, the Egyptian Red Crescent said in a statement. It was the 290th convoy sent from Egypt to Gaza since the Egyptian Red Crescent launched its pro-Gaza humanitarian aid initiative in late July 2025, the statement said. The total amount of humanitarian and relief aid delivered from Egypt to Gaza since the crisis began in October 2023 has exceeded 1 million tons, through the efforts of more than 75,000 volunteers, it added. Gaza’s health authorities said in their latest daily update on Monday that at least 1,460 Palestinians have been killed since the Israel-Hamas ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10 last year, including 111 in September. The overall Palestinian death toll since the conflict began has exceeded 74,000, with more than 175,000 injured, according to the health authorities.
