The Nedbank Windhoek Pedal Power Race Series 2 concluded over the weekend at Teufelsschlucht following two days of competitive racing on 17–18 January. The event attracted 285 cyclists who competed across various categories, covering distances ranging from 20km to 120km.
Sunday’s races delivered decisive results in the elite categories, with Drikus Coetzee securing victory in the Elite Men’s race and Vera Looser claiming top honours in the Elite Women’s category.
Coetzee crossed the finish line in 2:50:10, ahead of Ingram Cuff in second place and Theuns van der Westhuizen in third. He credited the win to strong teamwork, saying the Hollard team executed their race plan perfectly.
In the Elite Women’s race, Looser claimed victory in a time of 2:34:19. Anri Greef finished second, while Maja Jeanne Brinkmann rounded out the podium in third. Looser noted that the flat course and strong winds played a key role in shaping the race, adding that competing alongside master men made the event both more challenging and exciting.
Windhoek Pedal Power Race Coordinator Stefanus Feris praised the success of the weekend, highlighting the strong turnout and the continued support of Nedbank Namibia. He said the fast-paced nature of the Teufelsschlucht race consistently attracts large fields and contributes to the growth of the sport.
Nedbank Namibia’s Chief Commercial Officer, JG van Graan, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to cycling and community wellbeing, stating that the series provides riders with consistent, well-organised racing opportunities essential for the sport’s development.
