Windhoek, July 21 — The People’s Republic of China, through Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee has donated running shoes to the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) in a ceremony held at the Chinese Embassy in Windhoek on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Chinese Ambassador Zhao Weiping described the donation as a symbol of the enduring friendship between China and Namibia and highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries in youth development and sports.

The event was attended by H.E. Xiao Guiyu, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee, Ms. Gaby Ahrens, Vice President of the Namibia National Olympic Committee, athletes, and invited guests.
Ambassador Zhao noted that the donation comes shortly after the successful State Visit to China by President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, during which President Xi Jinping and President Nandi-Ndaitwah agreed to elevate bilateral relations to a China–Namibia Community with a Shared Future for the New Era. He said ”the two leaders also reached broad consensus on strengthening cooperation in various sectors, including youth empowerment.”

He expressed hope that the donation would serve as the beginning of expanded collaboration between China and Namibia in sports, promoting greater exchanges and opportunities for athletes from both nations.
The Ambassador congratulated both the CPPCC Shanghai Committee and the Namibia National Olympic Committee for their partnership, describing the initiative as a positive example of China–Namibia sports cooperation and friendship.
