Angola creates over 100,000 formal jobs in first half of 2025

LUANDA, July 4 — More than 100,000 formal jobs were created in the first half of 2025 in Angola, Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security Pedro Felipe announced on Thursday. Unemployment rate in Angola decreased after increasing from 34 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024 to 29 percent in the first quarter of 2025, Felipe said during the 11th Briefing of the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security. He said that 218,669 formal jobs were created in Angola last year, with the annual average of new jobs generated increasing from 41,700 in 2021 to 192,700 in 2024, and at least 109,563 formal jobs were created in the first half of this year in Angola. These figures coincide with the macroeconomic indicators recently presented by the National Statistics Institute for the last quarter, he added. The most representative sectors continue to be commerce and services. Filipe said that in the first half of this year, employment centers offered around 35,445 jobs, while demand stood at 35,190.
