Windhoek, May 22 — Namibia and Tanzania on Wednesday agreed to strengthen economic cooperation by identifying practical ways to boost trade between the two countries, including facilitating large-scale investment projects from both sides. The agreement was reached between Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and her Namibian counterpart Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah during official talks held at State House in Dar es Salaam, according to a statement by the Directorate of Presidential Communications. The statement said the two leaders expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation in such areas as education, tourism, environment, livestock, fisheries, and energy. Addressing a joint news conference after the talks, Hassan emphasized the importance of the private sector in driving youth employment and reducing poverty. Hassan also invited Namibia‘s private sector to collaborate with Tanzania to invest in value-added sectors, including livestock, fisheries, and tourism. For her part, Nandi-Ndaitwah said the government of Namibia will soon send ministers responsible for industry and trade to Tanzania to gain knowledge, learn about development programs, and further strengthen economic relations.
