WINDHOEK, Feb. 7 — Namibia has launched a book honoring the legacy of late president Hage Geingob. The book, “Whispers of Freedom: The Political Odyssey of Hage G. Geingob,” chronicles the life and career of the country’s third president, detailing his involvement in the struggle for Namibian independence and his contributions to nation-building. At the book launch Thursday evening, incumbent President Nangolo Mbumba said Geingob was an exemplary leader with a profound impact on Namibia. “Through it, we learn of Dr. Geingob’s persona, including kindness, generosity, selflessness, commitment to his people, love for them and great contributions to Namibia‘s nationhood,” Mbumba said. He said the late Geingob’s 132-page biography also represents the collective journey of all Namibians in their quest for freedom, independence, and self-governance. This narrative solidifies Geingob’s place in Namibian history and ensures that his legacy endures for future generations, Mbumba said. “In this way, history will truly become our teacher as we learn lessons from it that will help us improve our lives and those of all the people in our society,” he said. The book is authored by Audrin Mathe, an executive director of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.
