LUSAKA, Aug. 15– Zambia and Namibia on Tuesday agreed to enhance cooperation on strengthening and reforming their legal systems. The two countries reached the agreement following a meeting between their attorneys-general in Lusaka, the capital of Zambia. Mulilo Kabesha, Zambia’s attorney-general, underlined the importance of a good legal system as the backbone of a functioning society, and its role in resolving disputes, maintaining order, and protecting individual rights. The agreement is a critical step towards initiating judicial reforms and improving the functioning of the legal systems, he said in a statement. Festus Mbandeka, Namibia‘s attorney-general, thanked Zambia for the support provided in various ways over the years. He said the meeting will strengthen the relationship between the two countries and Namibia is keen to learn from Zambia’s legal system.
