Namibia to send 122-member delegation to 13th African Games in Ghana.

WINDHOEK, March 6– Namibia will send a 122-member delegation, including 42 male and 36 females athletes, to the 13th African Games set to take place in Ghana from March 8 to 23. Some members of the contingent have departed, and the others are set to depart on Wednesday. At the Games, Namibia will compete in wrestling, athletics, cycling, swimming, chess, karate, and cricket for both men’s and women’s categories. “The 2023 African Games will seek to promote African art and culture, which can lead to socioeconomic development across the continent,” said a statement from the Namibia Sports Commission. Team Namibia will be led by Chef de Mission Tjeripo Musutua, also the country desk officer, and by Bernadine Negonya, who will serve as the General Team Manager overseeing operational matters. The 13th African Games, which will take place in Accra, aim to contribute to the continental transformational agenda and the African Union Agenda 2063: “The Africa We Want.” The Games has attracted about 5,000 elite athletes and coaches from 55 African nations to compete in 30 sporting disciplines. Moreover, the 13th African Games will serve as an official qualifier for several sports codes for Paris 2024.
