Windhoek, O7 October 2026 – The Electricity Control Board (ECB) has confirmed that preparations for the 2026 Namibia Electricity Supply Industry Games (NESIG) Forum and Games are on track, with electricity sector companies and institutions set to come together in October for industry dialogue, joint planning and sporting activities.
The NESIG Forum will take place on 15 October 2026, followed by the NESIG Games from 16 to 18 October 2026. The programme is being hosted by the Electricity Control Board in collaboration with NamPower. The NESIG initiative provides a platform for organizations across Namibia’s electricity supply industry to come together beyond their individual institutional mandates, engage on matters affecting the sector and strengthen cooperation.
This year’s Forum will bring together stakeholders from across the electricity supply industry to discuss issues relevant to the sector’s development, including digital innovation, collaboration, investment and the transformation of Namibia’s electricity industry.
The NESIG platform provides an opportunity for the sector to engage directly and strengthen the relationships required to address shared challenges.
“The electricity sector does not operate in isolation. The challenges and opportunities facing the industry require collaboration between regulators, utilities, distributors and other stakeholders. NESIG gives us an opportunity to come together, have meaningful discussions, share experiences and plan collectively for the future of Namibia’s electricity sector,” said Nelson Ashipala, the NESIG planning committee member.
He added that the Games form an important part of the initiative by creating an environment where industry colleagues can interact outside the formal workplace.
“While the Forum focuses on industry engagement and planning, the Games allow us to build relationships and teamwork in a different environment. We believe stronger relationships across the industry ultimately support better collaboration in our professional work,” Ashipala said.
The NESIG Games are expected to bring together employees from organisations across the electricity supply industry for a series of sporting activities from 16 to 18 October 2026. The ECB and NamPower are working with participating organisations to ensure that preparations are finalised ahead of the October programme. Further information on the Forum programme, participating organisations and Games activities will be communicated in the lead-up to the event.
