BEIJING, July 10 – Namibia has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the one-China principle and the authority of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758, reiterating that there is only one China in the world and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The position was reaffirmed in a joint statement issued during President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s State Visit to the People’s Republic of China.
Namibia recognized the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal government representing the whole of China and reiterated its opposition to any form of “Taiwan Independence.” The country further expressed its support for all efforts by China aimed at achieving national reunification.
The two countries also reaffirmed their shared commitment to the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states. Both sides opposed attempts to politicize internal affairs under the guise of human rights and rejected interference in the domestic affairs of other countries on that basis. The reaffirmation underscores the longstanding strategic partnership between Namibia and China, which continues to be guided by mutual respect, sovereign equality, and cooperation on issues of shared national interest.
