Real Madrid confirms signing of Bernardo Silva on two-year deal

MADRID, June 17 — Real Madrid has confirmed the signing of former Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva on a two-year contract.

Silva, who will be 32 years old on August 10, joins Real Madrid with a deal until the end of June 2028 on a free transfer after his City contract expired. The Portuguese had been a target for FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, although it is thought the chance to work with Jose Mourinho was a factor in his decision. Silva continues Real Madrid’s busy transfer business after Florentino Perez was re-elected club president in early June.

As well as securing Mourinho’s return to the dugout, Real Madrid has signed Spain international left back Marc Cucurella for a deal worth approximately 60 million euros, and is linked to Netherlands international right back Denzel Dumfries and is set to sign center back Ibrahima Konate who will depart Anfield at the end of June, bringing his five-year spell with Liverpool to a conclusion.

Central defender Antonio Rudiger signed a one-year contract extension on Tuesday and will remain at the club until the end of June 2027.
