The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security announces that applications for Student Permits for the 2026 academic year will be accepted from 3 November 2025 until 20 March 2026. This notice is aimed particularly at prospective foreign students intending to enroll or already enrolled in Namibian educational institutions.
Foreign students must submit their complete and signed Student Permit applications, along with certified copies of all required documents, within this period. Application forms are available on the Ministry’s official website: www.mha.gov.na. Extensions beyond 20 March 2026 will not be granted.
Permit fees payable after approval are:
– Primary and Secondary Education: N$ 1,600.00 per year
– Tertiary Education: N$ 2,200.00 per year
Applications for courses shorter than one year can be submitted at any time, provided applicants have valid offers from Namibian institutions and remain outside Namibia while awaiting approval.
Please note that approval letters or receipts from the Ministry do not serve as valid permits or proof of permit status at any border entry points.
The Ministry warns that students holding permits but not attending classes, and instead engaging in other activities or business, violate immigration laws and will face strict penalties.
